The Lotus Notes AKS Test Item Bank will be an invaluable resource for teachers, once it is properly populated. We, as teachers, will be able to pull quality questions from the item bank to use for tests, quizzes, and the final exam. The database allows us to categorize by topic, strand, or AKS.

During the past year, I have entered several items into different test banks - including those for Mathematics and Computer Science. Here is an example of one such item. I purposely did not reveal the actual question or answer, as to maintain test security.

To reinforce the algebraic concept of writing the equation of linear functions, I have used a project involving the use of a graphing calculator. The students must design a picture using only straight lines, and program the calculator to draw this picture. The students enjoy being able to express their individuality and artistic flair, and I enjoy that they're learning the mathematics behind the art. Below is one such example of a finished project. Here is the rubric used to grade these projects.
