Component Two
Research and Media for Instruction
Select two or more examples to demonstrate mastery of related objectives:
- Original instructional video;
- Research project/lesson which was organized around use of Internet;
- Satellite or distance learning lesson;
- Lesson plan for electronically based research project;
- Search results from CERF, Georgia Learning Connections, etc.
Artifact 1
When we began studying JavaScript in our Advanced Web Design course, I wanted the students to see how this scripting language can dynamically change an ordinary, static site. I had the students search this topic using CERF; and we found a bevy of information. The students were able to better comprehend the topic's importance to the web programmer, and they found sites that they bookmarked on their home computers to access for future reference.

Artifact 2
Students generally respond better to learning mathematical concepts when they can be attached to real-world situations. Tenth graders especially repond to situations regarding automobiles, since this is usually the grade in which most of them will be attempting to get a driver's license. This lab involves graphing the reaction time to brake a car versus how fast one is driving. We retrieve the data from a site on the internet and do our analysis from that data. The lesson is important to me because it emphasizes the neccesity of driving safely.
